Wedding Photography at The Thatched Cottage Restaurant, Sutterton
A romantic wedding day at The Thatched Cottage Restaurant in Sutterton, captured through natural photography. From lakeside portraits to candid laughter, this venue’s charm and beautiful gardens created the perfect backdrop for timeless wedding photos.
Photographing weddings at The Thatched Cottage Restaurant in Sutterton, Boston (PE20 2EZ) is always a treat. The venue’s rustic charm, beautiful gardens, and lakeside views give couples a truly romantic setting for their wedding day, and for me as a photographer, it’s a dream canvas to work with.
Capturing Natural Moments in the Gardens
One of the highlights of this venue is its outdoor space. After the wedding breakfast, I took the couple into the gardens and by the water’s edge for portraits. The soft evening light added a golden glow that gave their photos warmth and depth. The natural reeds and trees created a timeless countryside backdrop that perfectly suited their relaxed personalities.
The bridge by the lake is one of my favourite spots at The Thatched Cottage. It frames the couple beautifully and gives an intimate, romantic feel to their portraits.
Relaxed and Candid Portraits
I always encourage couples to take a moment together during the day—away from the busyness—to just enjoy each other’s company. These pauses are when the best, most authentic photographs happen. By the pond, I captured the couple laughing, leaning into one another, and being completely themselves.
These candid moments always tell the story of a wedding day just as much as the formal portraits do.
Storytelling Through Light and Emotion
As the sun dipped lower, the light became richer, creating a more cinematic atmosphere. I used this to frame portraits that felt natural but elegant—images the couple can look back on and relive not just how things looked, but how the day felt.
At The Thatched Cottage, the combination of rustic architecture, landscaped gardens, and soft natural light makes it easy to tell a wedding story in a way that feels timeless.
Why This Venue Works So Well for Photography
The pond and gardens create stunning outdoor backdrops for portraits.
The bridge adds structure and romance to couple shots.
The changing light throughout the day offers variety—soft, bright tones earlier on, and golden, moody light later in the evening.
The intimate setting encourages relaxed, natural photography.

Boston St Botolph’s Cathedral Wedding Photography – Grace & Nicholas
“Grace and Nicholas’s wedding at Boston St Botolph’s Cathedral followed by a beautiful wedding breakfast at The White Hart Hotel in Boston. A perfect mix of historic charm and riverside elegance, captured in timeless photographs.”
As a wedding photographer in Lincolnshire, I had the absolute pleasure of capturing Grace and Nicholas’s beautiful day in Boston. Their ceremony took place at the incredible Boston St Botolph’s Cathedral (also known as The Stump) – one of the most iconic landmarks in Lincolnshire and a truly unforgettable wedding venue.
The cathedral’s breathtaking architecture, tall ceilings, and historic atmosphere made the perfect backdrop for timeless wedding photographs. From Grace’s walk down the aisle to the confetti moments outside the grand entrance, it was an absolute joy to document their love story.
After the ceremony, the celebrations continued at The White Hart Hotel in Boston, a charming riverside wedding venue. The hotel provided the perfect setting for a relaxed and elegant wedding breakfast, with plenty of laughter, heartfelt speeches, and natural candid photographs.
As a Boston wedding photographer, it’s always a privilege to work in such stunning locations that offer so much character and beauty. Both the cathedral and The White Hart Hotel are wonderful venues for couples looking to get married in Lincolnshire.
